So fast-forward to September 23rd last year, I’m going down for a stress echo. Normally I would get on a treadmill but my knees are starting to bother me. And so they were going to do a dopamine stress echo instead. And then they had me come down the week later. And when I finally saw them, you know they talked about the echo and do you feel any fluttering? Only once in a while but nothing significant. And they said « well you know, we think there’s – you’re in atrial fib. » And I went oh you know crap right? And I said « you know what? They’re talking to me about you know all this stuff. » And I said « could someone look at my leg? I’ve had this problem since June. He says « you’re in congestive heart failure. » – ‘my knees were bugging me’. Well that’s what I thought. I mean my knees were bugging me, but what I wasn’t paying attention to was the fact that I was so short of breath. But because my knees hurt that’s what I was focusing on.

Je devais normalement monter sur un tapis roulant, mais comme mes genoux me font mal, iels ont décidé de réaliser une échocardiographie de stress à la dopamine à la place. On m’a demandé de revenir une semaine plus tard. Lorsque je les ai enfin vu·es, iels m’ont parlé de l’échocardiographie et m’ont demandé si je ressentais des palpitations. Ce n’est que de temps en temps, mais ce n’est pas grave. Iels m’ont dit : « Eh bien, vous savez, nous pensons que vous souffrez de fibrillation auriculaire. » Et je me suis dit : « Oh, tu sais quoi? C’est n’importe quoi, non? » J’ai répondu : « Vous avez quoi? Iels me parlent de tout ça. » J’ai alors demandé : « Quelqu’un pourrait-il examiner ma jambe? J’ai ce problème depuis juin. » Il m’a répondu : « Vous souffrez d’insuffisance cardiaque congestive. » « Mes genoux me faisaient mal. » C’est ce que je pensais.
