Jenny
2 years since diagnosis
Age at interview: 25
Jenny resides in BC with her partner. 2 Years ago she was told that she would need to have her gallbladder removed. Later tests showed that it was actually her heart that was in trouble as her heart rate was abnormally high, her heart was enlarged and 2 of her valves were leaking. Doctors were baffled as to why a 23 year was showing signs of heart failure. Jenny too was confused as to why this was happening to her. She was young and healthy and had competed in sports. Ultimately Jenny decided to undergo surgery to replace her valve. Meeting other young patients like herself has helped Jenny tremendously along her journey. Jenny stresses the importance of having someone to talk to who truly understands what its like to be a heart patient.
