Looking back, Leah feels like she should have stopped breastfeeding earlier, but she was hard on herself.

With my first son, who was born in 2019, I, I had a really, really, really difficult time breastfeeding. It was you know really grueling, painful, he wasn’t gaining weight at the, neither of us were sleeping [laughter]. And so I think that PPD was a big part of that and I sort of ignored it or I didn’t think about it because I was just so exhausted and just so focused on trying to get the breastfeeding thing to work. You know going to the doctors all the time and taking him to get weighed all the time. And I, I so he was probably 4-5 months once we actually, you know got kind of the breastfeeding was a bit more comfortable and he was gaining weight properly.
Looking back I probably should have just given up breastfeeding [laughter] before I did. But I was very hard on myself. I would never judge anyone else who, who decided to you know to feed their baby formula or to not breastfeed for any reason. But I don’t, for whatever reasons, for myself, I was just really, I just really felt this was something I needed to do for my baby. Looking back, I would never put myself through that again. But, yeah so so, I would say, so yeah until about 4-5 what 4-5 months once we started breastfeeding, I was still a bit, I was doing better but I think I was still depressed again not like I was really scarred by that whole experience [laughter]. I think I kind of blamed it on that.
