Finding Support – Deb

After several trips to the ER and being dismissed, Deb's mom stepped in to advocate for her.

Transcript

Eventually my mom heard via the grape vine that I was ill. So, she came by the house. Of course, by then I told them I’m never coming back as long as I lived. And she said to me ‘Oh no Deb – you are getting in the car’. Now my mom is a lovely lady and we all quietly behind her back, refer to her as ‘the Iron Butterfly’. She stood next to my bed and dared them to send me home. So, they begrudgingly – having my mom there – she was quite, you know, someone they couldn’t really deal with – so they said ‘okay, maybe it’s her gallbladder’ and so they admitted me in the first floor.
