Lillian speaks about the trauma of a heart failure diagnosis.
Transcript
Well, some recognition of how traumatic that is. If I didn’t have the resilience and the resources that I have, if I didn’t have my therapist, I would have fallen apart. Nobody would have been checking on how I was doing. Nobody. I could have called somebody. At that point, I hadn’t even talked to the cardiologist. There were some difficulties dealing with emotional parts of things. I think I’m part of them. So I think attending to that and I think that wow, it is blowing apart someone’s life. But then people are still going to be living with, “What does this mean for my life? How do I pay my bills? Can I afford the medication?” It’ll be interesting to hear what you hear from other people. In the breast cancer groups, there’s enough people talking about how their bodies let them down because they got cancer. And I would imagine that that probably is a feeling that people with heart failure have as well, like a disappointment that their heart let them down. It’s interesting to me like there’s Wellspring for cancer. There’s nothing like that for this.
