I was clutching my chest just to get up from bed and just walk to the washroom and I didn’t know what was wrong. I was just really short of breath and those were my – the first symptoms that I noticed. I did not know yet about long COVID at that point, I just thought this is really weird … I do happen to have a family doctor who’s only known me for three years but he’s extremely supportive, very, very supportive and he knew that we had COVID. He had suggested that we get an oximeter, he’d been very supportive throughout but when I told him about it, he said, “Oh,” he said, “I’ll send you for an X-ray for your chest.”

So I did and he said – well there wasn’t much to be seen on an X-ray, he said, “I would really like to get an MRI done” – or I don’t know if it’s MRI or CAT scan, whatever it was but he said, you know, “It takes such a long time.” But I live in Quebec where we have the option of going private, so I said, “I’ll pay for it,” so I was able to get it done immediately. So it was early January when he called me to say, “We see shattered glass opacities [a haziness indicative of a range of problems] in your lungs” and he said that may explain all the symptoms.
