Coucoute
Recently diagnosed
Age at interview: 40
At the beginning of 2022 Coucoute was not able to get up anymore; she experienced fatigue and pain, especially in her back. She tried to make jokes about the effects of getting older as she just turned 40. She was very surprised to test positive after having worked the last two years with COVID patients without getting infected. Returning back to work after the 14 days isolation was challenging; she was too tired and out of breath – she did not feel like before anymore. She took several holidays and then started to work less days. She continues working less and therefore has less means to support her family in Haiti. She takes a lot of strength from her religion and hopes her religion will help the healing.
