Manali had COVID in January 2021 and realized about two months later that her symptoms were not going away. Manali has mainly been experiencing fatigue and brain fog and still has no sense of smell over a year later after her initial infection. However, Manali maintains a positive outlook about the situation and focuses on making lifestyle changes to help her cope with this experience, such as making healthy dietary choices and playing music. One big adjustment to her life is managing her work load as a researcher. Manali is a researcher and her career is one area where Manali has made some of the biggest adjustments as she manages her work load to cope with the fatigue and brain fog. Yet, she is patient with herself as she navigates this experience in the hopes that she will one day recover. As both a researcher and person living with long-COVID, Manali hopes to see more long-COVID research funded. She also contributes to the cause by leading long-COVID research studies as well as participating in studies to help the scientific community learn more about this condition.
