Impacts on Partners and Households – Ruth

 

Ruth regrets that she can no longer contribute to her house and home as she used to.

So we have a country home with land and landscaping and I love gardening, landscaping, and hauling dirt, like all those kinds of things. And we got this house to keep it together. Like keep up with it together. And now everything’s him, and that has affected him, not just physically but also financially. And it affects me because I can’t help out. As much as we both understand why, the work is still there, right? The housework is still there. And it’s just hard. And I mean, he’s the breadwinner now. I really can’t contribute. What I do get from disability I spend on my medical bills, like all my medications, and what’s not covered and whatnot.
