People with Long COVID Advocating for Themselves – Wayne

Wayne used to rely on his doctor but now feels he has to advocate for himself.

Transcript

I found that I absolutely must thoroughly be my own advocate and be my own doctor. I don’t want to be my own doctor. I liked it better when, you know, I could put the responsibility – but, you know, I guess in the end it’s not right but I did like it being able to put the responsibility for my health on my doctor and just trust whatever they were saying, whatever was said.

Really I think what we have to do if – with long COVID is to really do whatever you can yourself to understand your own situation and what your new boundaries are I guess. And really get more active in how you’re going to help yourself personally rather than relying on anyone else or anything else.
