Emilie Dionne, PhD

Émilie is a researcher at VITAM (centre for sustainable health research) at the CIUSSS-Capitale Nationale in Quebec City, and an associate professor in the Department of Sociology at Université Laval. She holds a bachelor’s degree in political science (Université Laval), a master’s degree in political science (University of Ottawa) and a doctorate in social and political thought (York University). She was also twice a postdoctoral fellow at the University of California at Santa Cruz (FRQSC-funded) and then with the Department of Family Medicine, McGill University. A sociologist, feminist and political thinker, and qualitative researcher, her research focuses on person-centered care, the ethics of care and vulnerability, critical and creative innovation in applied research with participants or action research (e.g., critical qualitative methodology, approaches using the arts), feminist bioethics and the use of the arts, culture and heritage (cultural and natural) for the purposes of well-being and health.
